JOB PURPOSE

To manage and solve complex engineering challenges, mentor and lead analysts and engineers, contribute to architectural decisions and make decisions around technical choices within established guardrails to ensure achievement of department’s plans

ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Engineering Delivery and Excellence
Manage design, implementation and technical artefacts for technology lifecycles and within ADCB engineering standards and guardrails to ensure successful achievement of implementation plans. Build and implement standard and repeatable design patterns, components and technology solutions in order to deliver on business objectives, customer needs and ensure security, scalability, reliability and performance. Maintain and share current thinking and trends around technology trends and practices, mentoring and coaching engineers to ensure inclusion of best practice and skills modernization. Oversee the day-to-day implementation of technology and digital strategy, roadmaps and prioritised initiatives as agreed with Platforms, Chapters and Tribes, working in cross-functional squads in order to achieve agreed turnaround times (TATs) and implementation plan. Guide, coach and role model a data-driven approach in order to maximise performance, including producing reporting and insights
Play a lead role with engineering teams and squads around change control, testing, incident management, troubleshooting and release management to ensure successful implementation. Identify opportunities for innovation and improvements in software development process and tools to ensure best practice solutions are considered consistently. Contribute to engineering acceleration initiatives across ADCB to ensure best practice solutions delivery within agreed TATs

2. Vendors and Partners
Oversee coordination with external vendors to ensure services are provided as per agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and TATs and remediation plans in place for variances beyond tolerance thresholds Work closely with solution architects and vendors in order to enhance ADCB capabilities and address technical debt.

3. People Management
Manage self and team in line with ADCB’s people management policies, procedures, processes and practices to ensure adherence and to maximise own and employee contribution to business performance. Organise and supervise the activities and work of the team to ensure that targets and objectives are achieved and the business plan is delivered in line with the required policies, processes, procedures and systems

4. Policies, Processes, Systems and Procedures
Implement approved departmental policies, processes and procedures, and ensure employee adherence so that work is carried out to the required standard while delivering the required standards of service to customers and stakeholders

5. Continuous Improvement
Manage and motivate the team to ensure they contribute to, and participate in, the identification and implementation of change initiatives, programmes and projects in line with the Bank’s standards

6. Customer Service
Demonstrate Our Promise and apply the ADCB Service Standards to deliver the Bank’s required levels of service in all internal and external customer interactions

Skills

EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES

Minimum Experience
At least 5 years of experience in design and deployment of an enterprise class network in a mid/large organisation with at least 3 years of experience in incident management and resolution, managing software releases and configuration management, Banking operations and related problems.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent

Professional Qualifications
Cisco Certified Internetwork Engineer (Data Centre, Security, Route/Switch) or equivalent
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) – Foundation Course for IT Service Management
Data Network technologies and protocols (i.e. routers, switches, network controllers, NFV, BGP, MPLS, QoS, DNS/DHCP)

Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of Data Network technologies and protocols (i.e. routers, switches, network controllers, NFV, BGP, MPLS, QoS, DNS/DHCP)
Knowledge of Network Security technologies and protocols (i.e. Firewall, IPS, WAF, VPN, IPSEC, DDoS, NAT, 802.1x, SWG, UTM, TLS)
